Trial Attorney Brad Kizzia Joins Brown Fox

September 6, 2011 - Trial Attorney Brad Kizzia Joins Brown Fox Kizzia & Johnson PLLC.  Brad, an AV-rated, six-time Thomson Reuters “Super Lawyer” and 2011 D Magazine “Best Lawyer,” joins Brown Fox with three decades of successful trial experience and exceptional client service.  Brad will chair the firm’s Litigation & Trial practice group and will focus his practice on complex business and commercial litigation, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death matters, employment litigation, and patent litigation.  Partner Adam Fox explained, “If we were given the opportunity to select one trial lawyer in Dallas to build our Litigation & Trial group, we would have chosen Brad.”  Managing Partner Russ Brown agreed, “Our clients will rest well knowing Brad Kizzia is on the front line fighting on their behalf.”

Intellectual Property Partner Jay Johnson Joins Brown Fox

August 1, 2011 - Brown Fox is pleased to announce that Jay Johnson has joined the firm as a Partner and Chair of the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice group.  Licensed in Texas, Virginia, and the District of Columbia, Jay graduated With Honors from the United States Naval Academy before earning his law degree at the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was Editor and Chief of the Oklahoma Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif.  Jay has been named a Texas Super Lawyer five times and was the 2010 Chairman of the Board for the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce.  Managing Partner Russ Brown explained, "We picked up one of the more talented and experienced IP attorneys in the Dallas market and further positioned the firm for a bright future and additional growth.”  Brown added, “It’s a big win for our firm.” Johnson shared his excitement, “I'm very excited to bring my intellectual property legal experience to the firm.  The IP litigation, prosecution and corporate work that I do is a natural fit with the labor and employment, corporate, and general commercial litigation skill sets that Russ and Adam relied on to start the firm.  We are now truly a full service legal provider for our clients."

Attorney Samantha Cooper Joins Brown Fox

May 17, 2011 - Brown Fox is pleased to announce that attorney Samantha Cooper has joined the firm as an Associate. Samantha earned her law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and her undergraduate degree at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. While at OSU, Samantha earned the CALI Excellence Awards for both Legal Writing and Analysis and Fiduciary Duty, was a Distinguished Merit Scholarship recipient, and was Associate Editor of the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution. During her time at SMU, Samantha was a member of the National Scholastics, Golden Key International, Pi Sigma Alpha National Political Science, and Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economics Honor Societies.

Russ Brown to Return to Democratic Republic of Congo Next Month

March 17, 2011 – Russ Brown will travel to Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo next month to work with local lawyers on issues such as conflict resolution and leadership. The trip is part of a partnership between Watermark Justice and African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries (ALARM). ALARM is an African led and African based organization that focuses on equipping African leaders with the skills, tools, and knowledge needed to truly transform their communities. ALARM operates in eight countries of east and central Africa, including Kenya, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.

Russ dedicates a significant portion of his practice to faith-based, social justice initiatives and charitable organizations, including International Justice Mission (IJM), African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries (ALARM), Watermark Justice, Advocates for Community Transformation (ACT) and Children’s Trust (benefiting Children’s Medical Center of Dallas). Over the past three years, Russ has traveled internationally to work with attorneys on issues such as bonded slavery and child prostitution in Bangalore India, and to combat sexual violence and rape genocide in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo.
